Account information

• Email address and display name— when you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name you choose. If you sign in with a third-party provider (e.g., Google), we receive the email and name associated with that account.

Home profile data

• Property details— during onboarding, you provide information about your home such as location (state), home type, heating and cooling systems, structural details, fixtures, and appliances. This data is used to generate personalized maintenance recommendations for your household.

Household and usage data

• Household membership— if you create or join a household, we store the household name, your role, and connections between household members.
• Tasks and care plans— maintenance tasks you create or that we generate for you, along with their completion status, are stored in your household's account.
• Service providers— contractor and service provider details you add to your household are stored for your reference.

Payment information

• Stripe— payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment credentials on our servers. We receive and store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your plan.

Information collected automatically

• Analytics data— we use Vercel Web Analytics, which collects anonymous, aggregated usage data (page views, referrers, browser type). Vercel Analytics is cookieless and does not collect personally identifiable information.
• Advertising cookies— our blog pages may display advertisements via Google AdSense, which uses cookies to serve and personalize ads. AdSense cookies are only loaded if you accept cookies via our consent banner. You can decline and the site works without them.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and personalize the Hearthward service, including generating seasonal care plans and maintenance tasks tailored to your home
• To manage your account, household, and subscription
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, care plan notifications, subscription updates)
• To understand how visitors find and use our website

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase— stores account data, home profiles, tasks, and application data. Data is hosted in the US East region. Supabase provides our authentication system. Supabase Privacy Policy

• Google AdSense— displays advertisements on blog pages (only with your cookie consent). Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your browsing history. Google Privacy Policy
• Resend— sends transactional emails (account confirmation, care plan notifications, subscription updates). Resend Privacy Policy
• Amazon Associates— some blog posts and care plan supply recommendations contain affiliate links to Amazon. Clicking these links takes you to Amazon's site, where Amazon's own privacy policy applies. We do not receive any personal data from Amazon about your purchases.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies for Google AdSense advertising (only after you accept them via our cookie consent banner) and for authentication session management. If you decline advertising cookies, no ad-related cookies are set. Authentication cookies are essential for the service to function when you are signed in.

We also store your cookie consent preference in your browser's local storage so we don't ask you again on every visit.

Your Rights and Choices

• Unsubscribe— every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time.

Data Retention

We retain your account data and home profile for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymous analytics data is retained by Vercel in accordance with their data retention policies. Stripe retains payment records as required by financial regulations.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), row-level security policies on our database, and secure authentication via Supabase Auth. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor.

Children's Privacy

Hearthward is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email.
